Back for their third season, the Hofstra Roller Hockey Club will be using the outdoor Pond at the Northwell Health Ice Center, the practice facility of the New York Islanders, for a portion of their training camp. Already the home of the Hofstra Ice Hockey Club, this will allow both teams to benefit from the 165,000 square foot, $52 million dollar facility which opened in 2014 and is located less than one mile from the Hofstra campus.
Many Hofstra Roller Hockey alumni and coaches got to see first hand how the rink plays at Hockey is Hockey Day, which puts top end roller hockey player and former professional and college ice hockey players together in a combined total score ice and roller hockey game weekend. Featuring former NHL players such Aaron Asham and Peter and Chris Ferraro, alumni A.J Frey, Jared Occhicone, and Matt Ketcham have been able to show their skills against some of the world's best.
